The fine print, in plain English
How I Make Money
Short version: when you buy something through my links, I may earn a small commission. Your price doesn’t change. And nothing on this site is a paid placement unless I say so, right there, next to it.
Affiliate links pay me a small cut, at no cost to you.
Gifted means a brand sent it to me free. I label it.
Paid partnership means a brand paid me. I label that too.
The Piazza Center and Integrated Aesthetics are clients. I’m fractional CMO for both.
Affiliate links
Most links on this site are affiliate links, mostly through ShopMy. That includes eBay, The RealReal, 1stDibs, Mohawk General Store, Target and other stores, plus a few Amazon links. When you shop through them, the store may pay me a small commission. You pay the same price.
I link to things I use, own or am actively hunting.
Discount codes
My codes (like BRIAN10 at The Piazza Center and Brian20 at Sweet Chemistry) get you a discount, and I may earn a commission when you use them. You’ll find them on my Perks page.
My clients: The Piazza Center and Integrated Aesthetics
I’m the fractional CMO of two practices: The Piazza Center in Austin and Integrated Aesthetics in Houston. That means I have a stake in both.
Products. INVO, Pavise and Exoceuticals link to the Piazza shop with BRIAN10, which takes 10% off for you and pays me a commission. I flag this wherever a Piazza link appears.
Fun fact: I helped Dr. Piazza source INVO, Pavise and Exoceuticals for the shop, because skincare is my passion. His clinical guidance helps guide me, too. We make a great team.
Treatments. When I write about a treatment I had at either practice, like Halo at The Piazza Center or Sofwave and Ultherapy at Integrated Aesthetics, know this: I pay for my treatments there, at a discount. They’re not free, and I say so in the post.
Gifted products
Some brands send me products for free. Sweet Chemistry still gifts me the products I’ve used for over a year. When something was gifted, I say so in the post.
Paid partnerships
I’ve done paid partnerships with brands like Sweet Chemistry, Angela Caglia, Caraway Home, Exoceuticals, HigherDOSE and Ursa Major. When a brand pays me for content, it’s labeled as a paid partnership. I turn down deals that don’t line up with what I actually believe in.
What I won’t do
- Recommend something I don’t use or wouldn’t buy myself.
- Hide a partnership, a gift or a commission.
- Give medical advice. I’m not a derm. What I share is my own routine and my own results.
My day job
I run Ellingwood Advisory, a brand strategy consultancy. That’s how I became fractional CMO for The Piazza Center and Integrated Aesthetics.
Brands: I share my rate card on request. Reach me through the contact page.
Questions about any of this? Ask me. I’d rather over-explain than leave you guessing.
