The Saint Laurent Outlet Near Austin: How I Found My Vaccarello Suit

Ten years of Vaccarello at Saint Laurent, and this is what I'll miss most. The shoulder. The drape. Pleats that actually fall right.

My favorite piece of his didn't come from Paris. It came from an outlet off I-35 in San Marcos, Texas.

Wool-cashmere blend. Pleated trousers. A jacket with real shoulders, the kind Vaccarello built his whole Saint Laurent on. And the fabric is divine. So soft.

I found it at the Saint Laurent outlet in San Marcos. The suit retailed for $7K. I paid $2.2K. (You can call Liye, who is super kind, and they had amazing inventory: 737-315-2382, to see what she has.)

Everyone says you need a tailor, a fitting and a four-figure invoice to own great tailoring. I paid $2.2K at an outlet in Texas and then $150 for the tailoring (mainly on the trousers).

How I wear it

I have a rehearsal dinner in Charleston this weekend and so I'll be wearing it with:

A white tee. Nothing else. When the tailoring is this good, it doesn't need help. I'll be wearing a Cale Japanese pima tee (my fave splurge).
Converse Chucks. Nothing better than the drape on a sneaker.

How to shop the Saint Laurent outlet in San Marcos

Where: San Marcos Premium Outlets, 3939 S. Interstate 35, San Marcos, TX 78666. About 30 minutes south of Austin on I-35 (exit 200, Centerpoint Road). Check the center's site for current hours.

One thing I check every time: the fabric tag. Composition first (you want wool-cashmere, not a poly blend), then the style number printed on the label, so you can look the piece up later and know what you actually bought.

I couldn't find the jacket anywhere online. Outlet pieces usually aren't. But the pants are out there. The first pair below is the exact pair in my photo: Fall 2025, brushed wool-cashmere, high rise, new on eBay for $1,350 (they retailed for $2.2K).
