How I Hunt $7K Bottega Leather for $2K
Nothing compares to Bottega outerwear. But the prices are eye-watering. They’re timeless investments, though, so I don’t pay retail. I hunt. Here’s how I buy Bottega Veneta for less, with the receipts.
The $7K shirt I paid $2K for

You know the plaid leather shirt Kate Moss wore on the runway? It retails for $7K. I got mine in red for $2K on The RealReal.
The trick was patience. I saved it and watched the price drop. It comes in other colorways, and they turn up secondhand all the time on The RealReal, Grailed and eBay.
The one I walked away from

On my last visit to Bottega, I tried on the leather jacket and passed. I’m hunting new leather pieces on resale instead.
Trick 1: Buy it from Italy

My tan Bottega jacket with Louise Trotter’s new intrecciato collar came from Il Duomo in Italy. I paid €1,427 with shipping. The same jacket is $3,600 on Bottega’s own site.

Caveat: you do get hit with the VAT. Still significantly cheaper. They have it in blue right now, still about $1K cheaper than buying it from Bottega: the blue one at Il Duomo.
Trick 2: Check the online boutiques

The denim jacket with the suede collar, the one Jacob Elordi wore. I got mine in a 50 on Cettire for $1.6K. Senser carries a deep Bottega selection too, so check both. It’s turning up on resale now, too: Grailed, The RealReal and Vestiaire.
